Masters of Sweat: Emma St. Peter

“Being part of this team feels like the perfect full-circle moment

and a chance to pour back into a community that helped shape me.”

Why did you want to join the Sweat Club team?

I recently turned 30, and over the past year, I’ve finally started believing in myself in a way I never had before. Stepping outside my comfort zone and doing things that scare me just a little has helped me grow into the most confident and authentic version of myself. When I first started taking classes at Sweat Club, I looked up to my trainers so much (and honestly, I still do). They made me feel seen, supported, and capable. I remember thinking, I want to be that person for someone else one day. Being part of this team feels like the perfect full-circle moment and a chance to pour back into a community that helped shape me.

What is one thing you wish you had learned earlier on your fitness journey?

That getting up and getting it done early isn’t just good for me—it’s better for my whole family. For a long time, I’d put workouts off and then spend the rest of the day trying to squeeze them in, making excuses, or feeling guilty when I didn’t. Once I accepted that I’m just that person who needs to move at 5 a.m., everything shifted. I wish I had embraced that routine sooner instead of fighting it.

You lead a very busy lifestyle. What are three tips you use to stay on track?

Planning and preparation are everything for me. I’ve learned that taking just a little time to set myself up makes a huge difference in how smoothly my days run. Whether it’s laying out my workout clothes the night before, prepping meals and snacks so I don’t have to think twice about what to eat, or simply giving my family a heads-up that “this time tomorrow is Mom’s time” — those little habits create structure and protect my priorities. When I feel organized, I’m less overwhelmed, more present, and it makes staying consistent feel less like a struggle and more like a rhythm.

A lot of Sweat Club members are also moms. What healthy habits are you already teaching your children?

Movement is a big part of our family’s routine! Two of my three kids have ADHD, and we’ve learned that when the energy is high or emotions are running wild, movement is often the best medicine. If we’re feeling antsy, we go for a walk. If the fighting starts or someone’s melting down, it’s time for a bike ride. I want them to grow up knowing that taking care of your body helps take care of your mind too. Teaching them healthy coping strategies has always been really important to me. I also try to keep food simple and balanced—like reminding them (and myself!) that if you’re feeling like a bottomless pit, it might be time for some protein.

What is your favourite thing about Sweat Club?

It takes all the guesswork out of working out; just show up, sweat it out, and feel amazing after! The workouts are planned, the playlists are fire, and the energy in the room is next-level. The location is a dream, right by the trails and downtown. Plus, the post-workout treat of a beautiful sunrise over the water never gets old!
