Masters of Sweat: Meet Caitlyn

“I am so grateful I have the rest of the trainers to look up to and learn from. They all inspire me every day.”

Why did you want to join the Sweat Club team?

I wanted to join the Sweat Club team because I have always had a passion for exercise and wanted to help others fuel their passion for it too. And for some, discover it!

How did you get into the fitness industry?

I was a competitive athlete for over 10 years and when I finally left my sport (swimming), I didn’t know who I was without it. I was encouraged to try weight training at the gym since I was somewhat familiar with it through my sport. I was instantly hooked and realized I loved the environment of a smaller gym. The older I got, the more interested I became and decided that this is what I wanted to study in school!  A few years later, here I am!

What is your favourite thing about Sweat Club?

My favourite thing about Sweat Club is all the strong, powerful and confident women involved! As the youngest member of the team, I am so grateful I have the rest of the trainers to look up to and learn from. They all inspire me every day.

Since you're our newest team member, we want to get to know you better! When you're not at Sweat Club, what fills your days?

I am a full time university student here at UNB! If I'm not in the Kinesiology building or the library you can find me at the Aitken Center with the Women’s Hockey Team as one of their athletic therapists. In the summertime, I am a bartender at Grimross so come see me for a delicious craft beer :)

You lead a very busy lifestyle. What are three tips you use to stay on track?

No matter how busy the day, find 5 spare minutes for yourself!

Planning! Everyone who knows me knows that I live for my Google Calendar. When I have an idea of how the day and/or week will go, I find it easier to “dial in” on things and let go of others when needed.

A short workout is still a workout! Sometimes I only have 15-30 minutes to get some movement in and I used to feel like that was not enough but then I'd take a step back and realize that something is better than nothing! Give yourself some grace- appreciate the season of life that you’re currently in.
