Masters of Sweat: Meet Emma
Why did you want to be on the Sweat Club team?
When Sweat Club first opened, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the boutique style gym, but I had a good feeling about it. I’d been following Sweat Club on social media (as well as Laura’s personal page), so I was eager to attend my first group training class! It’s such a motivating atmosphere; I was instantly hooked.
I’d recently completed my personal training certification when a friend sent me a job application to be a Sweat Club trainer. My friend reassured me that I’d be a great fit, so I applied right away. Shortly after, I received an email from Laura requesting an interview, and I was SO excited! From being a client at Sweat Club to now being a trainer, the gym has a large and positive impact in my life.
How did you get into the fitness industry and why do you love teaching at Sweat Club?
I was introduced to the fitness industry through working the front desk at multiple gyms in high school and college. With this, a fond interest in fitness grew, but it wasn’t until I really applied myself in the gym that I became so passionate about it. I began to realize the positive changes it brought—both physically and mentally.
In addition to my love for fitness, I love meeting people and building new relationships. Through Sweat Club, I have met awesome clients and formed valuable relationships. I feel lucky that I am always looking forward to getting back to the Club and training our members!
What is one thing you wish you could change about the fitness industry?
If I could change one thing in the fitness industry, it would be the importance that people place on the number on the scale. Everyone has their own unique body type, so it’s not wise to focus solely on numbers or compare yourself to others. The most important thing is how you feel!
You lead a very busy lifestyle. What are three tips you do to keep you on track?
Leading a busy lifestyle can be both exciting and exhausting! There are three things that help me stay on track.
First, I keep a day planner and always revise for the week ahead. This sets me up for a smooth week as I can see my schedule, to-do lists and reminders. Being organized is key with managing a busy lifestyle!
My second (and almost just as important) tip is to remember to schedule some me-time throughout your week. No matter how busy and important your obligations may seem, it’s crucial to take time to relax and decompress. Having personal time will only positively contribute to your overall well being.
Lastly, don’t forget your loved ones. Often, our loved ones are put on the back burner when life gets too busy. In order to maintain your healthy relationships, it’s important to find time to be attentive and show appreciation to your people.
You are rocking the 7 AM classes! What do you love most about the mornings? Do you have a morning routine?
I love my 7am classes! I look forward to waking up early and teaching them. The friendly faces, the energy, the dedication...it’s all so motivating—especially since it’s so early in the morning! It truly fuels my day. When I teach these classes, it pushes me to get to the Club even earlier so I can get my own workout in beforehand. Starting my day on such a high note is always refreshing!
