Masters of Sweat: Meet Sarah

“Everyone who walks into Sweat Club WANTS to be there; it is motivating and exciting to go to work every day.”

WHAT WAS YOUR JOURNEY TO JOINING THE SWEAT CLUB TEAM?

I always smile when I think about how Sweat Club was brought into my life. It was truly an “everything happens for a reason” moment. In the summer of 2021, I was a Co-Op Student through Planet Hatch, an entrepreneurship centre in Fredericton. During this placement, I was placed with a local founder and I was responsible for helping them further develop their sales pipeline. I was lucky enough to be paired with Sweat Club & Sweat Supplements. Once I started working for Laura full-time that summer, I started attending classes regularly. Over the course of that summer into that year and the next, I absolutely fell in love with Sweat Club! I knew I could not lose Laura and the amazing team I got so close to, and I wanted to get more involved with Sweat Club, so being a trainer at the club seemed like the next step to do so! Around June of last year, Laura and I discussed my becoming a trainer here, I got my certification in September 2023, and the rest is history!

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE FITNESS INDUSTRY AND WHY DO YOU LOVE TEACHING AT SWEAT CLUB?

I have always been a very active person playing sports throughout high school and staying active in university. After I heard about Sweat Club through my summer job, I knew this was the right fit for me.

I could go on for hours about why I love teaching at Sweat Club! But the main thing I love is the people. Not only the clients but the amazing team I work with. Everyone who walks into Sweat Club WANTS to be there; it is motivating and exciting to go to work every day.

ON TOP OF BEING A TRAINER AT SWEAT CLUB, YOU’RE A BUSY STUDENT WORKING TOWARDS EARNING YOUR DEGREE IN EDUCATION. WHAT ARE THREE TIPS FOR BALANCING STUDYING, WORKING, AND WORKING OUT?

1.    Write it down! As soon as I know I have a commitment, such as teaching a class, going to a specific class or event for school, an appointment, etc., I write it down in my calendar. This allows me to be organized right off the bat and know what my weeks are going to look like ahead of time!

2.    MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF! Although I can get overwhelmed and busy, it is so important to take those 30-60 minutes to myself each today, whether that may be with the gym, a walk, reading a book, etc. You may think you do not have enough time in the day to complete everything you want to but trust me, you always have time for yourself. Your brain and body will thank you!

3.    Celebrate your wins every day/week- big or small! Whenever things get a little bit overwhelming, I try to remind myself of where I am today, and how my younger self would be proud of me. Whether you completed a small or big task for the day, always celebrate those wins and try to show gratitude for your day.

SINCE YOU ARE OUR NEWEST TEAM MEMBER, WE WANT TO KNOW YOU BETTER! WHEN YOU'RE NOT AT SWEAT CLUB, WHAT FILLS YOUR DAYS?

Where I am still in university, my education degree fills most of my days! On the weekends I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going for a walk, enjoying a nice book, or binge-watching a Netflix series.

WHAT IS ONE BOOK, PODCAST, OR RESOURCE YOU WOULD RECOMMEND TO OUR COMMUNITY?

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz! Whenever I need a reset, I love to read this book and remind myself of the four agreements discussed in the book.
